Hillary Pierce

Hillary Pierce is an Emmy-nominated documentary producer based in Austin, Texas. She is a part of the producing team behind Keith Maitland’s dual 2016 documentaries TOWER and A SONG FOR YOU: THE AUSTIN CITY LIMITS STORY. Hillary began her documentary career at Maysles Films under the tutelage of Direct Cinema pioneer Albert Maysles and earned an MFA in Documentary Film at Wake Forest University. TOWER won the Grand Jury Documentary Prize and Audience Award at SXSW in 2016, broadcast nationally on PBS’ Independent Lens in February 2017, was shortlisted for an Academy Award and nominated for Outstanding Historical Documentary at the 2018 News and Documentary Emmys. It is now available on Netflix. In 2017, she produced a North American film and speaking tour for photographer Chris Burkard’s UNDER AN ARCTIC SKY documentary and launched The Wild Texas Film Tour with filmmaker and conservationist Ben Masters, an annual multi-city endeavor showcasing short films and speakers highlighting conservation, wildlife and outdoor adventure across the state of Texas. She is currently producing THE RIVER AND THE WALL, an adventure documentary slated for a 2019 premiere that immerses audiences in the unknown wilds of the Texas borderlands as it follows a team of five friends traveling from El Paso to the Gulf of Mexico on horses, mountain bikes, and canoes to explore the impacts of a border wall.
